news and new things

Finally, an update! I'm going to tell you a secret: I started working part time this week. One 4-day weekend already passed without me finding time to blog! That's how productive things have been around here. But I mean "productive" in REAL life. On Fridays, I am helping with goat cheese out at our friends' dairy. At the beginning of this week I applied for college, hoping I can finish up a 4-year degree since I only have a little 2-year one! At long last, tomorrow, I'm seeing a doctor about my ear problem that's been going on for probably 2 years --all that medicine a year and a half ago never really cleared up the problem!

So, that's what I've been doing! I feel sad that my blog has suffered, but I'm incredibly proud that I seem to be out of the rut I was in for about a year. I don't know if it came through on my blog or not, but I had no idea what I was doing that whole time I didn't have a job. And I wasn't really doing much with my spare time.

Now, on to the pretty stuff! When we were in Memphis last time, Robert's mom gave me a big selection of amazing vintage housewares!

Chalkware bird, hanging up in our kitchen. She gave me a couple of these with just fruit on them, too, but I'm not sure where to hang them.

Amazing yellow chair/stool. The foot stool folds up under the chair.

Last but not least: things Robert cross-stitched when he was a kid [Awesome Dude and Surfin' Pig]!!! Aren't these hilariously wonderful? I put them up in his office.

There were several more things, but I haven't had a chance to find places for them around our house yet. I'm happy that these colorful items are finding a new home, and that our house is so exciting. It's definitely not boring over here!

  1. I'm so pleased everything is going so well :) Have a great end to the week and weekend! The goat cheese sounds fun!

  2. Yay for real life productivity!! That little bird is so cute :-)

And good luck at the doctor's tomorrow!

  3. Everything's going swimmingly for you and that's terrific!!! Love your little chalware birdie and the farm work sounds like fun!!

  4. IRL fun! hahahaha

Stuff looks awesome. Can't wait to come visit!!

  5. I love that lemon yellow chair! It would be perfect for a kitchen bar or even beneath a high window.

A from A Plus B in the Sea

  6. I love that yellow stool!

yay on productiveness, and for the coming school!

  7. That yellow stool was supposed to be my computer chair, but I was informed that I would "probably destroy it in a few months."

I remember a time when the awesome dude and surfing pig hung proudly in Rob's [now my] room. I like the way cross-stitching makes everything appear to have 16-bit graphics.

  8. Yay! Congratulations on your new job! Love the chalkware bird!

  9. Happy to hear about all the good news- no more rut, a new job, school! I love how Robert cross stitched as a kid, too. He was one cool kid :)

  10. O my goodness, I grew up with that chair/footstool! Exact same one too by the looks of it. But not in that lovely sunny yellow. A really dull drab olive instead. This makes me nostalgic. And congrats on the new job. Goats cheese? How amazing. I wouldn't know where to start. Quarter life crises or any kind of crises involving not knowing what you're doing with life is just such a drag!!! It sucks being in one so glad you're out of it. Now tell me how to get out of mine :P!

Tell me something!
